Location – Business Overview

Location is a foundational business record used to define and manage the physical places where your organization’s assets are stored, used, or maintained. It helps Dafater keep asset information organized, traceable, and aligned with real-world operations.

What Location Is Used for in Business Operations

Location is used to: - Identify where assets physically exist (offices, branches, warehouses, factories, rooms, or sites) - Support accurate asset tracking and accountability - Enable better maintenance planning and inspections - Improve financial and operational reporting related to assets

By clearly defining Locations, businesses can always answer critical questions such as “Where is this asset?” and “Which assets belong to this site?”

Prerequisites and Setup Requirements

Before using Location effectively, the business should: - Clearly define its physical structure, such as branches, buildings, floors, or sites - Decide on naming standards for Locations (for example: Head Office – Floor 2 – IT Room) - Ensure responsibility and ownership of each Location is clear (who manages or controls it)

This setup ensures consistency and avoids confusion when assets are assigned later.

Typical Workflow and Business Process Fit

  1. Create Locations
The business first records all relevant physical places as Location entries.

  2. Assign Assets to Locations
When assets are purchased or transferred, they are linked to the appropriate Location.

  3. Use in Daily Operations
Teams rely on Location data for asset usage, maintenance visits, audits, and inspections.

  4. Review and Update
When assets are moved, renovated areas are created, or branches are closed, Location records are updated to reflect reality.

Location acts as a reference point across asset-related processes.
